Yesterday was Macworld 2008 and Apple introduced some cool new products like Time Capsule, which is a wireless router with a built-in hard drive. That’s not bad. The big announcement of the convention was the new MacBook Air, Apple’s new thin notebook (see new ad). The MacBook Air is extremely thin and light, weighing in at just 3.0 pounds and 0.76 inches thick. I really liked how the size of the notebook was demonstrated by Steve Jobs bringing it onto the stage in a regular manilla envelope.
To me though, the biggest announcement was the firmware update for the iPhone. The update includes some really nice new features like multiple SMS recipients, customizable home screen, and Google’s LocateMe. What made me really happy though is some how the annoying white dot grid that has been on the my phone from day one has been fixed. This whole time I thought it was a hardware issue and everytime I tried to get Apple to fix it they just told me there is no problem. Everyone could clearly see the grid except for Apple employees. After upgrading my iPhone yesterday, I noticed my screen looked a lot crisper. Upon a closer look at the screen I noticed that the white dots were gone. I guess the white dot problem was a software issue. All I care about is that they are gone.
So Apple had some big announcements yesterday like the industry’s thinest and lightest notebook and the news that 4 million iPhones had been sold since launch. For me, the biggest news was that the white dots on my iPhone are gone.

I’ve been keeping my comic collection for awhile now in my friend’s storage unit. It was the perfect place since the unit was climate controlled. My friend has decided not to keep the storage unit anymore so I’ve got my collection back at home. It was great looking through the comics remember all the different stories. I’ve got a nice collection with some really good gems in there like when Batman gets his back broken.
I started collecting in 1993, and I even remember my very first comic book, X-Men Unlimited #1. That was the book that started it all. Now I’ll need to go through all the boxes and catalog everything. I’m definitely not looking forward to that. Most of the books are in some kind of order at least, though there’s still probably about a good third that need to be organized. As you can see from the image above, there’s a lot of boxes to go through.
After the cataloging comes the next step of deciding which, if any, books to sell. The hard part will be finding people to buy the books that I don’t want. It’ll be hard because if I don’t want the book there’s a very strong chance that no one else wants it since it’s probably a worthless book. Hmm, I guess that statement can sound a little arrogant
I came across an interesting police vehicle today while waiting for Nicole. I was standing on the corner waiting for Nicole to pick me up to have lunch and saw this vehicle coming down the sidewalk. I have never seen this thing before so of course I had to take a picture. Turns out it’s called the T3 Motion.
The T3 Motion is a new electric scooter that is being marketed to police and security firms. I guess the San Diego Police must be testing the scooter out. I guess it would be a good replacement for foot patrols and parking enforcement though I think the scooter would be pretty useless in chasing someone down. It’s top speed is only 20MPH. You can get up to 25MPH with a special order version of the scooter. I wonder what the police that would be using the scooter think of it.
Wow, it’s 2008 already. Why is it the older I get, the faster time goes by? I just checked and it’s been over three months since I last posted. One of my goals for this year is to start posting on a regular basis. I think the problem is that there is just too much that I want to accomplish and posting to my web site just falls by the way side.
2007 was a great year for Nicole and I. Seems that the longer I’m with her, the better the relationship gets We took a great trip up to Northern California to visit her friend who just had a baby this year. I’ll be posting the pictures later as soon as I finish working on my personal gallery program. Nicole and I also went to New Mexico for her grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. It was great meeting that side of her family. They are some really nice people.
Work was excellent too. I was involved with the launching of a couple of high profile web sites like http://www.atlantafalcons.com and right now I’m almost finished with another. It’ll be launching in about two weeks. I’ve also started doing some freelance. The side work has kept me very busy though being busy means I’m doing something right.
So here’s to 2008, the beginning of another great year.
